Preparing for your clinic appointment
Medical acupuncture is a very low risk procedure, provided by multiple services across the NHS and private sectors. If you have any specific questions or concerns about your upcoming appointment, please do get in touch.
Pre-appointment form
Before your first appointment you will be sent a form to complete via email (or over the phone). This is to ensure that acupuncture is suitable for you and to help provide an individualised treatment plan for yourself. Simply complete the form and send back to Lisa- she will contact you to discuss anything needed before confirming your appointment.
What to bring and wear
Just wear what you feel comfortable in. Something that isn't restrictive and can be lifted to allow for easy access to your lower limbs, arms and shoulders is ideal. We do have towels and privacy if you need to undress to allow for this. Some patients also like to bring a blanket with them for the couch- it's a nice relaxing touch.
Parking
Currently, parking is restricted at Neetside community centre while the flood defence work is underway. There is limited parking at the rear of the centre and also available pay-to-park carparks in the Parkhouse Centre, The Wharf and the Crescent Carpark- all very close. Please let us know if you have reduced mobility and we can arrange a space for you in advance.
What to expect at your appointment
We allow 1-11/4 hours for your first appointment to allow for time to check your related health history and assessment and approximately 45mins for subsequent appointments, based on your treatment.

At Neetside community centre there is a waiting room to use until Lisa comes to meet you to take you to the clinic room. The clinic room has a treatment couch, patient chair and space to hang your coats. There are toilet facilities in the building should you need this prior/after your appointment.

Generally we use the first session as an opportunity to check your response and sensitivity to acupuncture treatment- this allows us to adapt the treatment plan for your body to received the best outcomes.
